About DARTE | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
DARTE (Drugs & Alcohol Resources & Training Exchange) is a voluntary, unfunded, volunteer-run group which exists to promote, facilitate and organise the exchange of alcohol and drug skills between regions, individuals, communities, groups and regions. DARTE is recognises the alcohol and drugs affect people globally and seeks to support the growth of an understanding of drug and alcohol issues at all levels of all societies. DARTE recognises the diversity of global communities and invites participation from all, regardless of race, religion, moral codes, gender, sexuality, professional status, education, physical ability or any other factor which might constitute unnecessary prejudice. IF YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL OR QUESTIONS TO ASK, PLEASE LET US KNOW. WE ARE UNFUNDED. ALL OF OUR EFFORTS ARE MAINTAINED BY UNPAID VOLUNTEERS, SO, PLEASE BEAR WITH THE LIMITATIONS THIS MAY CAUSE. BETTER STILL, CONTACT US IF YOU WISH TO VOLUNTEER YOUR SKILLS.
About DARTE's Community Pages
|
DARTE plans to use these page as a means of recognising and recording how the development of alcohol and drug skills at a local, community level have helped inform responses to drug and alcohol issues. Thus, on these pages we will be seeking to publish "testimonials" and articles by and about the work of individuals and communities which have and are addressing drug and alcohol issues at a local level. DARTE envisages that this will not only give a "flavour" of local intiatives in a diversity of regions, but that it may also give others ideas about and for intiatives in their own communities. DARTE will not censor nor approve or disapprove of any specific approach or intiative. The idea is to promote open discussion and debate whilst repecting diversity. (Space limitations, will however, mean that we have to exercise editorial control. We hope that we will acheive a representative range of examples.) If you have a story to tell about work in your local community, please let us know via the e-mail below. Additionally, DARTE will provide information helping individuals and communities to make contact with others addressing drugs and alcohol issues at a local level.
A Note about Communities in the Developing World
DARTE has a particular interest in supporting the development of alcohol and drug skills in communities within the developing world, particularly in regions where resources make it difficult or inappropriate to address issues via the means commonly used in "developed" countries. We especially want to hear from you if you are involved in addressing drug and alcohol issues in a developing region. |
